Michigan State Adopts
New Residential Building Codes
In 2000 Michigan State adopted the IRC (International Residential Code) a consolidation of the three major US building codes BOCA, ICBO, and SBCCI.
Online Training is Cost Effective
As the Michigan Bureau of Codes impliments the IRC, they face the costly task of introducing the new standards to thousands of building code officials, planners, designers and home builders.
Marketing Michigan CodeWatch™
CodeWatch™ Network will work with the Michigan Bureau of Construction Codes to market the free online training. E-mail and direct mail campaigns, newsletters and outreach programs will popularize the program. Michigan’s Home Builder’s Association is behind the project. And sponsors are encouraged to market their participation and provide links from their Web sites.

The Costs to Sponsors
Like a PBS documentary, CodeWatch™ videos are underwritten by sponsoring manufacturers whose products are “positioned” for up to 5 minutes in the videos. (Curriculum content is driven solely by code information.)
Curriculum Production Fees
Code sections are covered in 5-segment video modules. A module costs $35,000 and includes production and 2 years of streaming* (individual segments cost $10,000). Manufacturers own joint rights to the videos for marketing, sales, CD’s, Webcasts etc.
Distribution Costs
To add additional states, sponsors pay a $1500 Website development fee which includes 1000 plays ($500 per 1000 plays after that). Sponsors receive viewer registration data monthly.
